2025 Summer Reading Challenge

Take the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge and color your summer with stories. Thanks to the amazing response, the challenge has been extended through Saturday, August 9. Whether you’ve already started and need some extra time to complete the challenge, or haven’t joined yet, there’s still time for everyone to participate. Plus, library cardholders ages 18 years and younger can read, learn and have fun at the library while earning weekly rewards and a chance to win exciting prizes.

This year’s theme is Color Our World and it invites everyone to embark on a colorful journey of reading and creativity, celebrating the various ways books and libraries enrich our world.

Here’s how you can participate:

  • Visit any library location to sign up and join the challenge
  • Complete all seven weekly challenges with any combination of reading or participating in library learning activities, such as attending arts and craft programs, tutoring sessions or using interactive online learning tools
  • Track your progress in your Summer Reading and Activity Log
  • Participants ages 18 and younger can earn weekly rewards, including a special edition Miami Marlins brag tag, and will automatically be entered into a grand prize drawing for a chance to win great prizes

Participating in the Summer Reading Challenge is the perfect opportunity to beat the Summer Slide and prevent learning loss during the school year break.

Reading for just 20 minutes a day helps boost vocabulary, imagination and brainpower.
