West Palm Beach City Commission Meeting Approvals and Decisions

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (01-25-23) – Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the City Commission meeting on Monday, January 23, 2023.

MAYOR’S OFFICE – Approved an ordinance on first reading after a public hearing to change the name of 800 block of Iris Street to Alexander W. Dreyfoos Street. This one-block section of Iris Street is between South Tamarind Avenue and South Sapodilla Avenue, a section that separates the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts on the north side and the Kravis Center to the south.

CITY ATTORNEY – Approved a resolution authorizing the assessment of liens for unpaid water service, sewer service and storm water charges for October 2022; approved a resolution cancelling the General Election scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, 2023 and the General City Run-off Election scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Continued a resolution amending the restrictive covenant between SHP VI Datura West Palm Owner LLC (formerly IVY at Clematis LLC) and the City for the property at 445 Datura Street; approved a resolution for a Face of the City site-specific public artwork titled “Botanical Preserve” by artist Jill Hotchkiss, to be installed at South Olive Park;  approved an ordinance after a second public hearing, to amend the Downtown Master Plan, Sec. 94-131 – Incentive Programs dealing with historic structure relocation and designation; approved an ordinance after second public hearing, and a resolution amending the Downtown Master Plan Incentive program to clarify special provisions and modify certain requirements and establish compliance requirements, affordability requirements and the application process; approved an ordinance after a second public hearing to abandon the terminus portion of Eucalyptus Street and the alleyway between 7th Street and Eucalyptus Street adjacent to the Rosarian Academy; approved a resolution after public hearing to create a minor subdivision for the West Palm Beach Golf Park.

ENGINEERING – Approved a resolution releasing a unity of title for four lots and Tract 9-A in the Village Commerce Center; approved two resolutions accepting a Local Agency Program (LPA) Grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for $5.11 million for the Parker Avenue Rehabilitation Project and approval of the appropriation of the funds; approved a resolution approving the design features for Parker Avenue Rehabilitation Project.

FIRE DEPARTMENT – Approved a resolution for a Memorandum of Agreement between the City and U.S. Department of Homeland Security concerning participation in the National Urban Search and Rescue Response System; approved two resolutions accepting a $12,000 grant from the Florida Division of Emergency Management and appropriating the funds for reimbursement for maintenance and replacement of personal protective equipment.

HUMAN RESOURCES – Approved a resolution ratifying the Memorandum of Agreement between the City and Florida State Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Certified Units 1985 and 1986, pertaining to the salary plan, section 2.
