News to Use – For nonprofits: one-on-one help with CARES Act loans

Get help with PPP loan applications through
South Florida-focused CARES Act online platform

Axis South Florida – an online platform that provides simple, easy-to-understand information to help South Florida residents, small businesses and nonprofits secure the economic support they need to withstand the COVID-19 crisis and emerge stable. Axis South Florida is a collective of leading Miami-Dade and Broward community-based organizations, the groups who everyday are on the frontlines of working with and providing services for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Most timely is the Paycheck Protection Program  of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), which opened in the last week and for which applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through June 30th. As part of the federal CARES Act, the SBA will provide forgivable loans of up to $10 million per company to provide cash-flow assistance to employers who maintain their payroll during this emergency, help workers remain employed and enable affected small businesses to snap back after the crisis.

To help organizations navigate the process, there is the South Florida Emergency Response Program. The project partner  gener8tor  is hosting emergency two-week virtual programs especially designed for South Florida small businesses affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. The next program dates are April 6 – April 17, 2020 and use a rolling signup deadline. These programs will feature daily webinars designed to identify, understand and help small businesses secure resources to withstand the current crisis. One-on-one meetings will also be available.
