Guidelines Are Now Available – COVID-19 Relief Fund for the Arts

Dear Colleagues,

In response to the devastating effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners and Mayor approved $10 million in CARES Act relief funds to help the arts and cultural business sector. Today, we are launching the Miami-Dade Arts Support (MAS) program to assist arts and cultural organizations and artists address the mounting, negative financial impact of this health crisis. For more information on the guidelines, application process and eligibility criteria, please visit the Miami-Dade Arts Support Action Center.

Grants for Arts Organizations
Guidelines for the new Miami-Dade Arts Support (MAS) grants program for arts and cultural organizations are posted online. This week cultural organizations that receive annual operating support will be notified of maximum funding request amount available for their eligible expenses. Organizations that do not currently receive annual support should click here for details and application process. Application deadline is August 31, 2020.

Workshops and Technical Assitance for Organizations
The new Miami-Dade Arts Support (MAS) Program is wholly funded by the federal CARES Act. To assist organizations with the application process, we are hosting a series of mandatory workshops for cultural organizations beginning August 14th. Click here to see the workshop schedule and reserve your spot for one of the workshops.

Grants for Artists
The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs is activating round two of the Miami-Dade Artists Support! (MÁS!) Program. The program will provide up to a maximum of $500 per artist, available to artists of all disciplines, artist-entrepreneurs and cultural “gig” workers who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Click here for eligibility and to submit an application via Submittable. Application deadline is August 26, 2020.

Miami-Dade County Support of the Arts

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and the Board of County Commissioners have committed strong support for the arts and cultural community during this unprecedented time. Xavier Cortada, Chair of the Cultural Affairs Council, our Department’s volunteer advisory board, stated, “Our County’s elected officials recognize how important the arts are for our local economy and how essential this financial help is to ensure the arts survive and thrive, and eventually help lead us in restarting our economy and our lives. We encourage you to apply to receive these essential relief funds as early as possible!”

Stay safe,

Michael
