Councilwoman Mary Estimé-Irvin Extends her Sympathy to Three North Miami Families Affected by a DUI Case

North Miami, FL – April 23, 2021

After two years, a tragic DUI crash that killed three North Miami teens has led to a guilty plea and a final sentencing. North Miami Councilwoman Mary Estimé-Irvin has been following Mariam Coulibaly’s case, and the Councilwoman extends her sympathy to the families of these three young and aspiring soccer players. The defendant, Mariam Coulibaly, has been sentenced by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez to 15 years in prison and 15 years of probation.

“As a single mother of a young man, this case hit really close to home. I know these families have suffered a great loss. While I know that this sentencing won’t bring these teens back, I hope today’s sentencing will bring their families much needed peace and closure. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is extremely dangerous and reckless. It can change your life and the lives of others in an instant. We can all avoid these kinds of tragedies if we act responsibly behind the wheel” stated Councilwoman Mary Estimé-Irvin.
