Dear Colleagues,

As we previously reported in last week’s News To Use email newsletter, the Florida Department of State has issued guidelines for the African-American Cultural and Historical Grants program. We are emphasizing this unique opportunity as part of our continuing efforts to help promote equitable access to cultural resources.

This State of Florida grant opportunity is funded by the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) program, as authorized by the Department of the Treasury, and administered by the Florida Division of Arts and Culture and Florida Division of Historical Resources. The application period is now open with a deadline of Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.

Help Us Get the Word Out!

I strongly encourage you to apply, if eligible. Miami-Dade County’s African-American historic and arts institutions have a proven track record of outstanding cultural contributions to South Florida and this grants program may help provide significant funding support to eligible projects.

Please share this opportunity with Florida-based Black arts organizations and Black historical groups in your network that may be eligible to apply. The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs staff and I will continue to distribute useful information regarding the State’s African-American Cultural and Historical Grants Program or other helpful resources.

Sincerely,

Michael Spring
