Tallahassee, FL – To help create transparency and clear communication in communities with Home Owners Associations (HOA’s), Senator Linda Stewart (D – Orlando) has filed Senate Bill 788 that would require HOA’s to distribute electronic copies of rules and covenants to all residents.
The bill would require the distribution be to all current and new members after the effective date of the bill. Any updates to the rules would require the HOA board to distribute an updated version to community members.
“This bill makes sure that people living in communities with HOA’s have the opportunity to be fully aware of what the rules and covenants of that community are,” said Stewart. “With homeownership and rent in the state already incredibly high, guaranteed access to HOA’s rules will help residents to avoid fines and penalties from rules they may not have been aware of.”
