Travel News: Israel, Cuba, and The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas

In travel news for May 19, 2022 We have a covid entry restriction update form Israel, a travel update for Cuba, and some good news from MGM Resorts International.

Israel has recently announced that they will be relaxing covid entry restrictions. Starting May 21 international travelers flying into Ben Grunion Airport will no longer be required to provide a negative covid test pre-departure or to test for COVID on arrive. This change also eliminates the mandatory quarantine that travelers would be required to do while they waited for test results. Travelers will still need to fill out the health declaration form. Israel does require masks for all incoming and outgoing flights.

After a lengthy review of the United States Cuba policies, the U. S. Department of State has recently updated rules for those traveling to Cuba. The changes include an increase in the number of commercial and charter flights to Cuba, and will allow more interaction between U.S. Citizens and the people of Cuba through the popular group people-to-people visits. The individual people-to-people visits program has not been restarted. Travel to Cuba still isn’t straightforward and requires certain rules be followed, as well as authorization from the U.S. State Department.

The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, considered one of the more trendy and upscale hotels in Vegas, has officially become part of MGM Resorts International. The 1.6 billion dollar deal which was announced in October of 2021, was finalized on Tuesday. This adds to the companies already impressive portfolio of holdings on the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard which also include the Bellagio, CityCenter, Aria, Vdara, Park MGM, New York – New York, Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. And sits opposite the equally impressive collection on the east side held by Ceasers Entertainment.
