Stay cool and safe during a heat wave

There is hot, hotter and finally, a heat wave. A heat wave is a period of abnormally hot weather generally lasting more than two days. As we experience extremely high heat and humidity with temperatures above 90 degrees for several days, understand that your body is working extra hard to maintain a normal temperature.

During extreme heat, it is easy to become dehydrated or for your body to overheat. If this happens, you may develop heat cramps, heat exhaustion or even heatstroke, which should be taken seriously as it can permanently damage your organs and even death. Extreme heat is responsible for the highest annual deaths among all weather-related hazards.
