COVID-19 May Survey – Deadline June 9th

Dear Colleagues,

As we make our way out of the third month of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs continues to collect data about the impact of this pandemic on the arts in Miami-Dade County. The COVID-19 Survey of Impact on Miami-Dade County’s Cultural Community (CO-SIC) survey for May is now open.

MAY SURVEY DEADLINE: Tuesday, June 9, 2020 (include data only from May 1-31, 2020)
RESPOND TO THE MAY SURVEY HERE.

Your participation in this monthly survey has helped the Department document a financial impact of COVID-19 on the cultural community of $43 million with 5,377 arts and cultural jobs affected in March and April 2020.  View the results here.

We will continue to share the collective results with local, state and national funders, media, and public and private sector leaders to raise awareness of the urgent need for support for the nonprofit arts sector.

In addition to assessing your revenue losses, jobs affected and increased expenses related to COVID-19, the survey looks at resources that your organization has applied for and/or received from public and private sources at the local, state and/or federal level.

To complete the May survey, you will need your organization’s completed  CO-FIT Tracker for the month of May (include only information from May 1 – 31st) and a list of COVID-19 recovery support opportunities that you have applied for/received. Please refer to the  Frequently Asked Questions  or contact your grants program administrator directly with questions. You can find a  staff directory here.

MICHAEL, WHEN ARE WE REOPENING?

Many of you have reached out to ask if there is any news regarding reopening of cultural programs and youth summer arts activities. It is important to note that ALL cultural activities are suspended until the Emergency Orders issued due to the COVID-19 pandemic are lifted, with the exception of nonprofit museums and public gardens. The Emergency Orders issued by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez remain in effect until lifted. Stay informed here:  http://www.miamidade.gov/coronavirus.

We struggled about even sending you anything today in light of our community’s and our nation’s deep struggle with the recent tragic event in Minneapolis. However, our collective survival has never been more essential to uphold what is good, just and hopeful for the human race. The great work of our inspiring artists and outstanding cultural institutions shines brightly, reminding us that humanity, diversity and unity are inalienable values in Miami-Dade County’s arts community.

Stay safe!

Michael
