MIAMI Association of REALTORS® Hosts Sold-Out City Spotlight on Town of Miami Lakes

MIAMI — The MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) recently brought its successful City Spotlight series to the Town of Miami Lakes where it partnered with local leaders to empower and inform members and the buying and selling public on the latest real estate developments in the area and how Miami Lakes is preserving its small-town charm while embracing smart, sustainable growth.

Town of Miami Lakes Councilmember Juan Carlos Fernandez emphasized the importance of zoning and site planning standards that maintain the city’s architectural integrity at the April 30 event at Miami Lakes Hotel. Councilman Alex Sanchez reaffirmed the town’s commitment to remaining a Tree City USA recipient, prioritizing green space and livability.

“Miami Lakes is a jewel,” Sanchez said. “We’re not looking to be the next boomtown. We’re focused on being the best version of our community; green, family-friendly, and safe.”

Fernandez, Sanchez, MIAMI REALTORS® Residential President Jonathan J. Alfonso and MIAMI Residential President-Elect Dinorah de Cardenas led a dynamic panel of presentations.

Discussions also addressed infrastructure maintenance projects like the 57th Street bridge, designed to ease traffic and accommodate future population growth. Town officials reinforced their stance on protecting Miami Lakes’ identity, particularly as neighboring municipalities expand, with state-level support to maintain distinct boundaries for safety, insurance, and tax benefits.

Alfonso energized the audience with a call to action for civic engagement.

“If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu,” said Alfonso, underscoring the importance of community involvement in local decision-making.

Alberto Vasquez, a 2025 MIAMI REALTORS® Residential Board Governor, shared exclusive market data sourced from MIAMI REALTORS® proprietary analytics.

He revealed that Miami Lakes is outpacing growth trends in broader Miami-Dade County, spotlighting the area as one of South Florida’s most desirable and resilient submarkets. The top national migrating markets are New York, California and New Jersey. The top international migrating market is Colombia.
