Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami Dade College (MDC) President Madeline Pumariega have jointly introduced the Future Ready Miami-Dade Scholarship, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at affording Miami-Dade County residents the opportunity to pursue an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree at MDC with zero cost.
The county has committed nearly $3 million to fund this multi-year program, with the initial allocation of $750,000 already approved for the fiscal year 2023-24.
Eligibility for this program extends to high school graduates in Miami-Dade County with a minimum GPA of 2.0, who have obtained a standard high school diploma, GED, or home school diploma.
To ensure the academic success of scholarship recipients, Miami Dade College is offering comprehensive support services, including personalized onboarding assistance, individualized guidance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), career counseling, assistance with resume development, and dedicated student success advisors. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to participate in Changemaking activities, recognition events, and networking sessions with experts in their chosen field of interest.
