Renovated waterslide and beach reopens

The Miami-Dade County Parks Department is delighted to announce the reopening of the historic Larry and Penny waterslide and beach. After several years of closure for essential maintenance and safety enhancements, park patrons can now enjoy the white sandy beach and iconic slide at Larry and Penny Park.

The newly renovated waterslide features three mammoth slides offering park-goers exhilarating twists and turns as sliders spill into a cool refreshing pool, perfect for these hot summer days. The slide and surrounding beach area will officially open to the public on Saturday, May 25 through weekends leading up to Monday, Labor Day, Sept. 2.

What to expect:

  • New Look: The waterslide has been meticulously renovated to offer a refreshing and exhilarating experience while maintaining the classic charm that park-goers cherish
  • Enhanced Safety Features: Miami-Dade Parks’ top priority is your safety. The waterslide now boasts non-slip coating to the water basin floor and steps, new steel support brackets and new structural support and safety rails for slide walkways
  • Fun for All: Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or simply looking to enjoy a cool refreshing ride, the waterslide promises a fun-filled adventure for everyone
  • Slide and Beach Hours: The slide and beach will be open on weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and holidays (Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, & Labor Day)
