On Monday, June 26, 2023, Governor DeSantis vetoed HB 1267 – Consumer Finance Loans, a bill that removes the tiered interest structure and increases the maximum interest rate to 36 percent. In response to Governor DeSantis vetoing HB 1267, Florida Senator Rosalind Osgood (D- Tamarac) issued the following statement Wednesday:
“HB 1267 would have made the citizens of Florida more vulnerable to predatory lending and put consumers at risk for greater financial hardships. Vetoing this bill was in the best interest of the citizens of the State of Florida.”
