West Palm Beach City Commission Meeting Approvals and Decisions

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (DATE) – Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the City Commission meeting on Monday, March 20, 2023.

MAYOR’S OFFICE – Presented a Proclamation designating Friday, March 31, 2023 as The Lord’s Place SleepOut to End Homelessness Awareness Day. Diana Stanley, the Lord’s Place CEO, accepted the proclamation.

CITY ATTORNEY –  Approved a resolution authorizing assessment of liens for $13,922.28 for unpaid water service, sewer service and storm water charges for the month of December, 2022; held a second pubic hearing and approved an ordinance prohibiting the projection of unauthorized images on private buildings without written permission of the property owner; held a second public hearing and approved an ordinance requiring permitting and notice of public feedings events or social food sharing events of 25 or more people.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Continued a public hearing and resolution to April 3, 2023 to abandon and vacate a 2,662-square-foot portion of an alleyway between South Rosemary Avenue, Evernia Street, Fern Street and the FEC Railroad right-of-way; continued a public hearing and resolution to April 3, 2023 to abandon and vacate a portion of an alley right-of-way between 25th Street, to the north, 24th Street to the south, Spruce Avenue to the east and Broadway to the west for the mixed-use development known as The Spruce; continued a resolution to April 3, 2023 for a special site plan review for waivers and variances form the City’s Zoning and Land Development Regulations for an eight-story, mixed use building with 270 multifamily units, including workforce housing.

HOUSING and COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – Approved a resolution approving applying for a Florida Department of Economic Opportunity federally-funded Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Relief Fund grant for $567,974 for the West Palm Beach Fire Department Community Paramedic Program.

PARKS and RECREATION – Approved a resolution for a sponsorship agreement between the City of West Palm Beach and Historical Society of Palm Beach County for $5,000 to produce “An Evening on Antique Row” on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
